A Letter from our PTA president…

Greetings Bear Families! We are rapidly moving through this new year and heading into Spring. We have had some great events too. Our annual Color Run in February was fantastic. Although mother nature decided to unleash some rain on us that day, we joyously used that extra water to really get colorful. We had a wonderful turnout and a rainbow of shirts to prove it. Huge thanks to our Color Run chairperson, Jennifer Barker and her team for putting the event together. We appreciate the families that made it out and hope you had a great time. Our general meeting in early February was “bricktacular” as we thoroughly enjoyed a fun experience with dinner and the Bricks For Kids program. Around Valentine’s Day we also had a small Carnation fundraiser that the students and staff enjoyed, and we appreciate the families who supported this effort. Thanks to Stacey Gardiner for managing it! Finally, movie night was so much fun. I know it was chilly, but we certainly hope you enjoyed this family fun event and thank you to all who purchased the concessions that will support this year’s fifth-grade celebration. Thanks again to Lindsey Girdwood our Programs Chairperson for organizing the event.  It’s hard to believe but we are past the halfway mark for this school year. Don’t worry, we have quite a few events coming up for parents and students.

Have you thought about getting involved in school and PTA activities but are worried about your level of commitment or feeling obligated to do too much?  Volunteering is the best way to help the school and your student(s). We are in need of more volunteers!!!! As our PTA PROMISE, signing up to be “on our list” just means when we have an event or need help with small things (like cutting out some flowers for the Spring dance) we can email you to see if you want to help. That is all that is involved. Some events only require help with things which can be done from the comfort of your own home, while others are onsite at the school. Being on our volunteer email list gives YOU the power to decide your level of commitment and when or how you can help. Please email us at  BuckhornPTAPres@gmail.com so we can add you to our list so you can be in-the-know, and have a chance to help.

We appreciate the support, time and volunteers that help make and keep Buckhorn Elementary so exemplary! To make sure that you stay up to date with events, go to our website: www.buckhornpta.com, or check out the at-a-glance calendar below, be on the lookout for flyers coming home with your student, follow us on Twitter and Instagram and/or like us on Facebook.

Celebrating our Children,

Abigail Boyce
